EUHAC infographic: It’s time to cut pollutants at all sources
For UNEP’s International Day of Clean Air for Blue Skies, the EU Healthy Air Coalition (EUHAC), which brings together non-profit health expert voices in the EU to advocate for better health for all through clean air, calls to cut pollutants at all sources in a new infographic.

Air Pollution is Europe’s biggest environmental threat to health, linked to all major diseases and harmful even at low levels. We are all affected by poor air quality, and pregnant women, children, the elderly, people with pre-existing health conditions and socio-economic disadvantages face the greatest risks. And these impacts come at a huge cost – hundreds of billions of euros annually in health care, lost productivity, and reduced quality of life in Europe.
What needs to happen? EU and national decision makers should
- Accelerate the binding pace of emissions reduction
- Introduce binding methane emissions reduction targets
- End subsidies for fossil fuels and ammonia emitting practices
- Remove “renewable” label from biomass
